The United Nations has estimated that one million people have already fled Ukraine in just the first week of the Russian invasion. Up to seven million people are expected to flee from Ukraine into neighbouring countries including Romania, Hungary and Slovakia as they seek to escape the Russian invasion. They could be allowed to stay in the European Union for up to three years without any formal asylum process under emergency measures being discussed.
