Pikkuli asks Brother and Sister to play blind man’s buff with him but they just want to fly around. Pikkuli looks for a playmate but no-one has time. Pikkuli finds a curiously uneven-looking bird, Honkkeli, fishing in the pond. Suddenly Honkkeli almost drowns and Pikkuli has to jump in the pond to help Honkkeli. Mrs. Grouse and her Chicks applaud: Pikkuli is a hero that saved Honkkeli! Honkkeli and Pikkuli become good friends.
