Pina Bounce Dance Company is a contemporary dance group founded in 2017. The group consists of mainly amateur dancers, who are professionals in visual arts, media, marketing and design among others. Pina Bounce Dance Company has performed actively for two years. The dance pieces of the group are artistically ambitious and they leverage the diverse know-how of the members. This spring, during the COVID-19 outbreak, the group had to come up with new ways of dancing together. A special dance video was born. The piece takes cues from Trisha Brown’s “Roof Piece”, captured on the rooftops of New York City, in which dancers copy each others’ movements from afar. In Pina Bounce Dance Company’s dance video “Isolation Piece” each dancer repeats a series of movements, learned via video calls, in a deserted urban space.
