Ruotsin, Suomen ja Norjan ilmavoimat järjestivät neljännen monikansallisen Arctic Challenge Excercise -lentotoimintaharjoituksen 22. toukokuuta - 4. kesäkuuta 2019. Harjoituksen kansallisena tavoitteena Suomessa oli muun muassa kehittää yhteistoimintakykyä monikansallisissa ilmaoperaatioissa haastavassa uhkaympäristössä sekä harjoitella isäntämaatuen antamista Rovaniemen tukikohdassa. Videolla Yhdysvaltain merijalkaväen Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251:n komentaja, everstiluutnantti Roy Nicka kertoo ilmavoimien ja Yhdysvaltain merijalkaväen yhteistyöstä sekä Suomen tarjoamasta isäntämaatuesta keväällä 2019 järjestettyjen Bold Quest 19.1 -tapahtuman ja ACE 19 -lentotoimintaharjoituksen aikana. Isäntämaatuen antaminen on yksi puolustusvoimien lakisääteisistä tehtävistä. Isäntämaatuen käytännön valmiuksien kehittäminen on ollut vuodesta 2002 yksi Suomen ja Naton välisestä noin 60 kumppanuustavoitteesta Suomen puolustuksen kehittämiseksi. Suomi ja Nato allekirjoittivat isäntämaatukea koskevan yhteisymmärryspöytäkirjan (HNS MOU, Memorandum of Unerstanding) vuonna 2014. Yhteisymmärryspöytäkirjai ei sisällä velvoitteita rakentaa tukikohtia tai infrastruktuuria, joten Suomessa tapahtuvassa kansainvälisessä koulutus- ja harjoitustoiminnassa täällä harjoittelevat joukot toimivat samoilla harjoitusalueilla ja tukikohdissa kuin Puolustusvoimat. Suomen puolustusvoimien ja muiden viranomaisten antama isäntämaatuki ulkomaisille joukoille on käytännön tasolla hyvin samanlaista kuin omien puolustusvoimien tukeminen. The Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Air Force organized the fourth multinational Arctic Challenge Excercise flight exercise on May 22 - June 4, 2019. The national goal of the exercise in Finland was, among other things, to develop co-operative capacity in multinational air operations in a challenging threat environment and to practice host nation support in the Rovaniemi air base. In this video, US Navy Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251 Commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Roy Nicka talks bout cooperation between the Finnish Air Force and the US Marines as well as Finland's host country support during the Bold Quest 19.1 Event and ACE 19 Flight Exercise in Spring 2019. The provision of host country support is one of the statutory tasks of the armed forces. Since 2002, the development of the practical capacity of host country support has been one of the 60 partnership goals between Finland and NATO for the development of Finnish defence. Finland and NATO signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Host Support (HNS MOU) in 2014. The Memorandum of Understanding does not contain any obligation to build bases or infrastructure, so the trainees practicing here in Finland, in international training activities operate in the same exercise areas and bases as the Defence Forces. Host country support for foreign troops by the Finnish Defence Forces and other authorities is very similar in practice to the support of their own forces.
