Defence Cooperation Between Finland and Sweden – Mutual Trust

Defence cooperation between Finland and Sweden is based on mutual trust. The purpose of the collaboration is to strengthen defense capabilities in both countries and to work together to strengthen security and maintain stability in the Baltic Sea region and the northernmost regions of Europe. The size and number of different joint actions and exercises have been expanded and collaboration will be deepened in the future to include operational planning and more diverse training and exercise activities. Sweden and Finland signed the military strategic concept for improved defence cooperation in Helsinki on December 18, 2019.
