There's a misspelling in major Karl Sunder's title. We apologize.) Ilmavoimien Ruska 17 -ilmaoperaatioharjoitus järjestettiin 9.–13. lokakuuta. Ilmapuolustuksen kaikkien osa-alueiden poikkeusolojen toimintaan keskittyneeseen harjoitukseen osallistui yli 60 ilma-alusta sekä noin 5100 henkilöä. Harjoituksessa oli mukana puolustusvoimien joukkojen lisäksi myös Ruotsin ilmavoimien ilma-aluksia ja henkilöstöä, jotka osallistuvat harjoitukseen sekä ilmapuolustustehtäviä harjoittelevien joukkojen osana että niiden vastaosastoja kuvaavassa roolissa. Eräs harjoituksen keskeisistä tavoitteista oli ilmavoimien Hornet-monitoimihävittäjien ilmasta maahan -suorituskyvyn käytön kouluttaminen harjoitusjoukoille. -- The Finnish Air Force Ruska 17 air operations exercise took place between 9 and 13 October 2017. More than 60 aircraft and approximately 5,100 personnel participated in the exercise focusing on all aspects of the air defense of Finland. In addition to the Finnish Defence Forces’ troops, aircraft and personnel of the Swedish Air Force also participated in the exercise both as part of the forces practicing air defense tasks and in the role of opposing forces. An important target of Ruska 17 was to train the air defense personnel to plan and conduct air operations utilizing the new capability to use precision-guided air-to-ground weapons on the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighter fleet.
