BALTOPS16 – Spirit of SWEFIN Amphibious Task Unit

Ruotsalais-suomalainen amfibio-osasto harjoitteli yhteistoimintaa BALTOPS16-harjoituksessa 5.6.-12.6.2016. Suomi ja Ruotsi osallistuivat harjoituksen osana FINSWE-yhteistyötä. BALTOPS on vuotuinen Itämeren alueen merellinen harjoitus, jonka johtaa NATO:n merellinen osasto Naval Striking and Support Force Nato (STRIKFORNATO). Harjoitus järjestetään tänä vuonna 44. kerran ja Suomi on osallistunut harjoitukseen vuodesta 1993 alkaen. Vuoden 2016 Baltops-harjoitukseen on suunniteltu osallistuvan noin 6100 sotilasta, 49 alusta, noin 60 ilma-alusta sekä kolme sukellusvenettä. Suomesta harjoitukseen osallistuu miinalaiva Uusimaa sekä 140 hengen vahvuinen Uudenmaan prikaatin rannikkojääkärikomppania. Swedish Finnish Amphibious Task Unit trained together 5 – 12 June during the Baltops-16 exercise. Finland & Sweden participated in the amphibious part of the exercise as part of the bilateral FINSWE cooperation program and in accordance with the Swedish-Finnish Naval Task Group concept. BALTOPS is an annual maritime exercise held in the Baltic Sea region under the command of the Naval Striking and Support Force NATO (STRIKFORNATO). This year the exercise is arranged for the 44th time and Finland has participated in the exercise since 1993. According to plan approximately 6,100 soldiers, 49 vessels, approximately 60 aircraft and one submarine will take part in the Baltops exercise in 2016. Finland will participate in the exercise with FNS Uusimaa and a 140-strong coastal jaeger company from the Nyland Brigade.
