Thursday morning at 05:00 AM, activists from Extinction Rebellion and the German environmental activist group Ende Gelände took action at the Equinor building at Fornebu. It is the first time Ende Gelände takes action in Norway. The action is a protest against Equinor's fracking in Vaca Muerta, Argentina. Three activists have been arrested, but the action is still going on! In a coordinated action with the activists in Norway, the Mapuche and other communities affected by fracking in Argentina are presenting a letter to the Norwegian embassy in Buenos Aires, demanding a hearing with the embassador and that Equinor seize its fracking operations in Vaca Muerta. Fracking is a highly damaging practice both for the global climate and the local environment. Equinor and other energy companies are involved in fracking in Vaca Muerta, Argentina. Their presence is being contested by representatives of the indigenous Mapuche people.
