University of the Arts Helsinki - Sibelius Academy presents: Netta Madetoja, saxophone - OLLA (to be) Master's recital This concert is a diverse showcase of entertaining stories, soulful melodies and powerful ambiances. The power of expression in the sound of the saxophone is evident in the soloist’s performance as she emotes in a range of moods, be it the musings of a Gregorian singer or the life of a clucking chicken. The common thread in the pieces are the rich harmonies infused with jazz. Madetoja will give a first performance of Kalle Ylitalo’s Olla (“To Be”) piece composed for alto saxophone and electroacoustic concert kantele. The composition takes the audience to the soundscapes of an ancient forest brimming with energy. Let yourself just be and be absorbed by the music’s gentle cradling.
