Citation guidelines for the Finnish Web Archive

These guidelines define how to cite material stored in the Finnish Web Archive. Citations must indicate the publication and harvest dates for the material, as well as that the material is preserved in the Finnish Web Archive. In the case of posts on X (previously Twitter), only the posting date is indicated, as the harvest date is not available.

When citing websites, citations must always indicate the original URL address of the material, not the internal URL address of the Finnish Web Archive.

Certain content is collected several times per day, therefore citations must indicate the exact date and time when the material was preserved in the Finnish Web Archive. The harvest dates of websites are displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the user interface, those of other materials in the lower right-hand corner.

Citation dates should be indicated when citing websites.
