Fortumin yhtiökokouksessa 23.4.2020 agendalla on osakkeenomistaja WWF Suomen esitys yhtiöjärjestyksen muuttamisesta sellaiseksi, että Fortum sitoutuu 1,5 asteen tavoitteeseen. Voisiko aloitteen hyväksyminen olla läpihuuto juttu? Suomi on valtiona allekirjoittanut Pariisin ilmastosopimuksen ja Fortumista suurimman osan omistaa Suomen valtio.Tästä huolimatta WWF:n aloite ei mennyt läpi. Mistä tämä johtuu? Siitä että ilmastosopimus ja yritysmaailma ja politiikka, eli todellisuus missä me elämme, sijaitsevat kahdessa rinnakkaisessa todellisuudessa. Could this be this easy? Why not, because Finland has signed the Paris Climate Agreement and most of Fortum is owned by the state of Finland. Despite this, WWF's initiative did not pass. What is causing this? That the climate agreement and the business world and politics, that is, the reality where we live, lie in two parallel realities. First, Fortum's Board of Directors stated that it did not recommend supporting the WWG initiative. As a state, Finland has signed the Paris Climate Agreement, but also the Minister of Corporate Governance Tytti Tuppurainen stated that he does not intend to vote in favor of the initiative either, as it can be interpreted as changing the company's purpose in the public interest, which is not possible for a listed company. According to the Companies Law, the company's “purpose is to generate profit for shareholders, unless otherwise provided in the Articles of Association”. Nothing else is dictated by the law on the operation of a listed company. What hope do we have for limiting warming to 1.5 degrees if the real actions of gouverment and co-operations are missing?
