― MUUgalleria
Yasushi Koyama: Carving in Pink Dots, an exhibition in MUU Cable (Cable Factory, Helsinki, Finland), 31 July - 7 Septemebr 2015. Yasushi Koyama makes a large wooden animal sculpture in the same space in MUU Cable on whose walls he has painted thousands of pink dots. Yasushi Koyama is a Japanese artist who lives and works in Helsinki. He creates animal sculptures from wood and ceramics. Most of the wooden sculptures are carved from a single piece of wood with hand chisels. The rich textures of sculpted wood make a warm impression. This exhibition is part of Koyama’s project Art For Children 2015. It involves the making of a large animal sculpture and giving it to children to be touched and hugged. After the show at MUU Cable, Koyama donates the sculpture to the children in the Helsinki Rudolf Steiner School in autumn 2015. Supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
